Why power flush?

Did you know that when copper pipe is exposed to hot water, a chemical reaction takes place that produces a black substance called Magnetite? This ‘sludge’ circulates around your central heating system, eventually settling in your radiators. The performance of your heating system will be negatively affected and may also lead to boiler failure and an expensive repair bill.

What are the signs?
Your boiler and/or pipes are noisy
Your radiators and/or other parts of your heating system are leaking
You notice it’s taking a long time for the system to warm up
You notice cold spots at the bottom, middle or top of certain radiators
You need to bleed radiators on a regular basis to release accumulated air
You discover black sludge when your radiators are bled
Pump failure/boiler cutting out.

If you have an older system that doesn’t have a filter fitted, power flushing is the only method that is guaranteed to clean the system and remove the troublesome sludge.

MagnaCleanse is the latest industry breakthrough from the pioneers of magnetic

The results of a MagnaCleanse power flush
  • A quieter, more efficient heating system
  • Faster heat up of radiators and hot water
  • Protection against rust
  • Protection again lime scale

And, up to 25% saving on your heating bills! A power flush really is the closest you’ll get to a new central heating system (without the £5000 costs involved!)

“…a well-run operation from start to finish.  We were informed of what was going on every step of the way and it was amazing the amount of stuff that ended up being collected.  Needless to say, our heating is now like new. See you in a year’s time for our check-up.”

How it works

  • In all cases we prefer to use the non-invasive MAGNACLEANSE system, which works by using your central heating pump to move the water around the system rather than an external pump.
  • The MAGNACLEANSE magnetic filter is connected to your (drained-down) system by cutting out a short length of pipe on the return to your boiler and attaching a couple of compression joints.
  • The system is then half filled, the boiler started up to get everything nice and warm and rust removing chemicals added. The warmth of the system assists the effectiveness of the chemicals.
  • Each radiator surface temperature is measured using an infrared thermometer, to identify cold spots.
  • The internal rust spots are removed by concentrating the water flow through individual radiators and vibrating the radiators using the specially developed VIBRACLEAN tool.
  • The system's heating coils and all the pipe work is flushed with clean water until our water samples show clean and neutral readings (detected using an electronic meter Total Dissolved Solids – the amount of solids suspended in water - for cleanliness and a pH meter to check acidity).
  • We then add a small amount of neutraliser to compensate for any residual chemical cleaner, followed by a rust inhibitor, which is circulated throughout the system.
  • The power flush equipment can now be disconnected, the length of pipe replaced (or a MAGNACLEAN filter fitted as required) and your central heating system reinstated.
  • Finally, the heating is turned on and all your radiators are balanced to optimise efficiency.

The main benefits of using the MAGNACLEANSE system over a traditional power flush are:

  • Time: 3-4 hours versus 6-8 hours
  • Cleanliness: no emptying of buckets after each radiator
  • Water consumption savings: approx 500 litres versus approx 3000 litres – great for those with a water meter!

That’s it! And it’s all done within four hours…
